Pictures on the Wall

Others may not like the idea of putting collage photos on the wall especially inside your own room. But for me, I don’t care much about the idea of having a good room designs or ambience. I considered putting photos on the wall more interactive and refresh my minds because they remind me always of the wonderful moments I spent with the people, the places and occasions captured in those photos.

I displayed the pictures on the left side of my bed so I had the chance to view them at once before I close my eyes at night and by the time I wake up in the morning. Having someone to remember is pleasing enough to my heart. It doesn’t matter where they are now, as long as they are in my heart. These people inspire me and I am convinced that they love me for what I am.

Sometimes, I need to experience everything so that I would learn.
There's no easy way in living life so I live it as it is.
I Cry.
I Laugh.
I go crazy.
But I don't miss the chances that life is giving me

LEGAZPI CITY: My Hometown

I spent my formative years in Legazpi, where the famous Mayon Volcano is located. I was a witness of her several eruptions since the 80’s Ironically, it was eerie and exciting to see nature's way of bringing beauty and power together. I felt that I knew this volcano by heart since I was able to explore the top of Mayon Volcano during the college when I joined “On To Mayon” adventure during the 90’s.

It was last Dec 21 6:00 pm when we arrived in Legazpi. Seeing just the tip of the volcano while we are approaching Camalig Albay brings back to me so many happy childhood memories. I reminisced how my father often proudly told us stories about Mayon Volcano and her antics, her myths and eruption patterns (every ten years usually during the year ending with 8’s).

My visit to my hometown will not be complete without catching the beauty of Mayon. I thought I will never see her perfect beauty since it’s rainy season and the cloudy and windy weather conditions made it difficult for me to catch a sight of the entire volcano. It maybe too frustrating especially if you’re just as excited to take pictures of her. Oftentimes, she always hides in haze so I couldn’t catch her perfection.

But sometimes she showed up her “charm” when the weather is good. You just have to be timely to see her full beauty. Mt Mayon does not show itself clearly very often.

Actually you can see the volcano at any point of Albay, but the best location is the point near to our place. Our house is located 10 kms away from the volcano and going to Legazpi proper, we passed by the tip of the highest hill in Tagongtong, Taysan where we can see Mt. Mayon, as well as the entire Legazpi proper.

Mayon never seize to amaze me. For me, it is one of the most photogenic and most photographed subject. Every angle has its own characteristic that never fails to show its true beauty.

here's a tip: if you want to shoot Mayon with clear skies, youll most probably have better chances early morning from 6am-7am and you will have a better chance that she will show her true beauty.

In the City proper, I checked out a place called Pier 1 (Brgy. Victory Village) near the wharf. In this part of the city, you can have the full view of the so called Sleeping Lion where the major waterfront development, Embarcadero de Legazpi, is soon to open in March 2009. It will become a destination for both local and international tourists alike. The masterplan maximizes the uniqueness of the location – the site fronts the main harbour of Legazpi with views to the Mount Mayon volcano.

Embarcadero is comprised of retail, restaurants, markets, a major civic space and landmark lighthouse, with a future waterfront hotel and spa. It will “activate” the waterfront creating an attractive and vibrant focus for the city’s leisure and lifestyle activities.

Likewise it will function as a waterfront promenade, with theatrical lighting and performance spaces creating a lively, family friendly environment during the day and at night

The place was known before as Victory Village/ Legazpi Port where we seldom visited because of the squatters and the squabbles of gangs in the 80’s, and most of the dwellers were street delinquents.

In 2006, Supertyphoon Reming triggered a massive mudslide and floods in downtown Legazpi. The entire city proper was almost submerged in water reaching to almost 10 feet high. There were big rocks that came from the top of Mayon that rolled down destroying everything in its path. Just imagine, after Reming, companies built rock quarry/grinding plants because of the abundance of rocks and sand and dwellers near the slope of Mt. Mayon prefer to build their own concrete houses in the same affected area. They refused to be relocated.

Despite of the onslaught and massive destructions, the “Buhayon Ta an Legazpi” campaign of its Mayor, Engr. Noel Rosal, was a success. Now, the place is entirely different. The port area is generally clean, progressive and peaceful.

LOVE OF SIAM: "as long as there's love naturally there's hope".

My friend brought with him the famous Thai’s “Love of Siam” Director’s Cut version (no missing scenes, no cut!) and we watched it with a full understanding of the dialogues since it has English sub-title. The one shown openly in the cinema was two hours and thirty minutes while the Director's cut version is three hours and ten minutes.I must admit that I'm not the only one in tears at the end of the movie, my friend did. It was the part nearing the end where Mew (Witwisit Hiranwongkul ) puts the nose on the gnome that Tong (Mauro Maurer) gave him and then he starts to cry.

Boys are potentially being tempted quite for awhile. What lies in the future for Tong (Mauro Maurer) & Mew ( "Pitch" Witwisit Hiranwongkul ) is for us to imagine if they end up together or have separate lives..

When I am watching a movie, I always look for a various types of symbols because it is where I want to see what symbolic efforts the movie is being recommended to watch.. Some efforts like the bee climbing up on the straw represents a struggle out of death, a gnome (whose nose is lost) conveys a missing factor in our lives, a belief in God.



Love of Siam shows the relationship of two teenagers who start to know the meaning of love and friendship that will be remain in the memory forever.

For sure, my friends in Riyadh will surely love this movie as I did.

Mew, a stubborn kid, is neighbor to Tong, an energetic boy who lives with his parents and sister. The two became good friends.



Months have passed and Tong's family decides to move. On the day of the move, Tong finds Mew sitting on a ledge overlooking a pier. Tong says his final words “Don’t allow others to make fun with you” and departs in a car. Tong looks back only to find Mew walking towards the car before coming to a stop and crying for losing his best friend.

Six years pass. The boys are reunited during their senior year of high school at Siam Square.
The musically talented Mew is the leader of a boy band called August. Tong has a pretty girlfriend, Donut. The meeting stirs up old feelings that Mew has harbored since boyhood, his love for Tong.
Mew's band, meanwhile, has a new manager, June. She looks just like Tong's long-lost sister, Tang. After meeting June, Tong and his mother, Sunee, devise to a plan to pay June to pretend she is Tang, in hopes that it will pull Tong's father out of his alcoholic dpression.
Mew is also the object of an unrequited crush of a neighbor girl, Ying. But Mew has strong feelings for Tong, which have inspired him to write new songs.
The boys share a prolonged kiss in Tong's backyard one night after a party in honor of the return of Tang. Prior to that Tong also spends the night with Mew, which causes his mother to worry.

At Christmas time, as Tong and his mother are decorating a Christmas tree, they have a heart-to-heart talk about making choices, and Tong asks his mother to let him make his own choices.

Tong then goes to Siam Square for a date with Donut. Mew's band is playing nearby, so Tong abandons Donut and tells her he cannot be with her. He then rushes to see Mew play and is guided there by Ying, who has accepted the fact that Mew loves Tong. After the performance, Tong gives Mew a gift, a missing nose from a wooden doll that Tong gave him when they were children. However, Tong tells Mew he can't be his boyfriend but that doesn't mean he doesn't love Mew.

The movie ended with Mew putting the missing nose back to the wooden puppet, saying "thank you" and cried quietly.

Being away from each other is a type of test. Isang pagsubok sa katatagan ng inyong relasyon. In the course of time, along the way, maraming temptation.. trials…na maaring ma fall out of love kayo sa isa’t-isa. If the relationship isn't strong, then you can succumb sa mga unos na darating sa inyo and you have to admit defeat. Pero kung tapat kayo at mahal niyo ang isa’t-isa, kailangan matutunan mong mag sacrifice, self-control at tiwala kahit malayo man ang distansya niyong dalawa.

Love is not possessive. When you love a person, you can use another method of possessing the person. Let him become a permanent memory in your life. Wherever you are, the memories will always linger. How can we love people who don’t seem to make things worth at all?
Why do we become so numb caring for people
whom at times don’t even think of us in a day or two?

Strong and content, I am now traveling an open road…….

Roads have a special meaning to us. They take us where we want to go. There is almost always a road associated with every place we go and every important event in our lives. Roads are everywhere, yet, roads are often minor details in our memories of important moments.



There is a parallel between roads and life. They make us think of our lives and how we have lived them – this is the road of life!

Rough roads, fallen bridges, deteriorating sections, heavy rains, flash floods and converging roads made it hard to travel and arrive safe to our destinations. It could even get worse by the stop signs, traffic lights, checkpoints, and intersecting traffic.



My travel in a cross road show my visions and progress through life. The life on the road is unpredictable and has many obstacles, yet full of hopes that the roads will be smooth and open.

My recent trip tells a good story against the horizon and tells how, against astonishing odds, I got to the place where I had to go.




“Cars” choke my roads… “Checkpoints” prompted me to stop often…. “Tires” stuck in the mud…”Heavy baggage” averted me from driving fast.

One thing, however, is certain… roads will continue to be a major part of our lives and will continue to symbolize the essence of our being…our decision..our fate!



I do take some precautions. I never pre-advertise my rides or route except to trusted friends. They love to give me directions, talk about the road conditions, wish me safe at all times and even travel with me just to make sure I am out-of harm in the road.

"MissTaken" & M2M Versus: Rated X!

Two movies worth watching for:



"M2M Versus"
Starring: Paolo Rivero and Paolo Serrano

Versus is a tale of two male hunks undergoing the different stages of realization and of falling in and out of love. Their story reels off in their minds and is carried out in a rather sensual and provocative manner. What actually goes on…? And what are the complexities in the process of carrying out, staying in and moving on from this kind of relationship?

The two Paolos play characters that snugly fit their public personas: Paolo Rivero is serious and mature (he's an Urian-nominated actor who's been making movies for close to a decade), while Paolo Serrano is impetuous and happy-go-lucky (he's allegedly involved in a webcam scandal in which he flashes his privates and in another scandal in which he allegedly extorted money from a gay lover). The contrast works erotic wonders.

They're neighbors who meet, have lots of sex, fall in love, fight, and break up. Think of it like a story from Kwentong Kalibugan -- short (a little over 40 minutes), something trite you might have heard before or thought up yourself, but delivers for as long as it gets you hot and hard. The set pieces are standard Pinoy softcore: shower, bedroom, bodega, car, basketball court. No dialogue too, just voice-overs. Clearly, the cost of making it must have been minimal, but you almost can't tell by the relatively decent technical values.

The two actors use their bodies well -- torsos, butts, pubes, bushy armpits, sweat, musculature. But half the appeal is in their facial expressiveness. Rivero brings the gravitas of a repressed man blossoming, but it's Serrano who steals the scenes with his unstoppably horny behavior. He channels sex with the mere flash of his naughty boyish smile. My favorite is when he assaults his partner's body with his actively lapping lips. I only wish the narrative didn't wind down disappointingly to a ho-hum ending.



"MISS TAKEN"
Starring: Jao Mapa, Pia peron and Emil Sandoval

One morning, Bryan Santos (Jao Mapa) calls up Police Sgt. Martinez (Emil Sandoval) and shows him a naked woman he woke up to sleeping beside him in bed.
Anna (Pia Peron) insists she is Bryan's wife- while Bryan insist to the cop that he never saw this woman before.

Sgt. Martinez digs deep into the mystery as Bryan waits for his wife to be found, while the strange woman lives with him as if they were husband and wife all along.
Confusion clouds Bryan because all of his friends acknowledge the strange girl as Marcia (Bryan's missing wife).

Bryan gets trapped more and more in a web of conspiracy, sex and mind games.

Raising a pup is a lot of hard work, but it gives back fulfillment! A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.

I never thought I'd ever be so excited about having a puppy, although, I am a pet-lover ever since.

I can buy more clothes, spend lavishly for my needs…be a philanthropist.. show my concern for other people… but seldom to receive a warm loyalty like what a pet dog can give. He is worthy of such devotion. Dogs don't lie. When strangers come, they growl and bark, they know their loved ones in the dark. As long as your demeanor carries with it the promise of affection (and good food!) he will protect you at all times.

We brought Jefjef, my new puppy, from Manila to our hometown (almost 500 km) before the holiday and I was quite anxious that he might get sick of long travel and feel snotty of his new home in the province. At first I saw his reluctance since he was secluded miles away from his other siblings. When we arrived, he was uneasy and preferred to be in his cage most of the times. All the while I thought he’s sick and enervated coz he didn’t eat well. But when my nieces started to play with him, he started to be brisky and feels that he has a new home. He never sleeps near with anyone except beside me nor can sleep well without me.

He chases me wherever I go.
He feels annoyed when I ignore him.
When no one wants to play with him, Jefjef is having fun with “Donkey”, my cuddly teddy pony (a gift to me by Rachel Alejandro’s mother “Myrna” 15 years ago) .

I talk to him when I'm lonesome and I'm sure he understands. I play with him when I’m happy and I feel he loves to see me always happy. When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my
clothes, that’s the time I feel his genuine affections.

Since I had much time during my vacation, I get along with my Jefjef the best that I can. Of course, there’s my family who can assure me his comfort at home, (just like what they are doing to our 2-year old house-guard dog “Dambo” and to my brother’s shitsu pet “Specks” ) while I’m away and will be gone for quite a long time. Jefjef has been doing great lately.

Soon, he will be joined by another pup, and most likely his match, whom I will call “Basha”.

Actually, the great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.

I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if we weren't certain we knew better.

They fight for honor at the first challenge… make love with no moral restraint… That’s how dogs differ from the human being.



Why jefjef?

He has no name yet when we got him. My family suggests to name him Pacquiao, Pacul, Nero, Spike, Dingdong, etc., but I decided to baptize him Jefjef, hoping that he will be like my 2 “Jeffrey” friends who are kind, nice and lovable.

We socialize him and keep him from getting territorial by bringing him in town whenever we’re out. We've been trying to take him everywhere we go so he can meet new people and get comfortable with strangers. We never let him stay in his cage. He's such a friendly dog!

I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.

I missed my Jefjef… my pet….. my loyal and trusted friend ..
